Your gift makes a difference.

The Department of Surgery has been fortunate to have been the recipient of a number of philanthropic gifts that are dedicated to different areas of research.

Specifically, the department has received a number of named gifts in the fields of breast cancer, juvenile polyposis, bariatrics, and metabolic research.

In addition to these larger gifts, each division has a number of gift funds—new and longstanding—that provide ongoing support for mission priorities of division faculty. These generous gifts allow the department to fund faculty members in start-up, residents in need of research support, collection of pilot data, travel to research meetings, and much more.

You can help us do more.

We’re proud of our record of success with the thousands of patients we treat each year. With your help, we can do even more to help surgery patients. Here are a few ways we can enhance our services with the help of private support:

  • Create a research endowment that enables the best and brightest investigators to pursue new areas of investigation.
  • Attract the world’s best physicians and researchers to the department by providing ample funds for faculty support.
  • Develop and expand our hallmark “interdisciplinary teams” approach for optimum patient care, including pediatric surgery, surgical oncology, gastrointestinal surgery, vascular surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and acute care and general surgery.
  • Continually enhance care and clinical outcomes for surgical patients.
  • Minimize the need for injury-related surgeries through public-education efforts promoting burn and injury prevention.
