Start Your Fellowship Here
Program Goal: To provide broad exposure to both trauma and emergency general surgery services, graduated autonomy, and the development and fine tuning of surgical skills and decision making.
Curriculum
ACS Fellows will attend weekly Department of Surgery Grand Rounds/Department M&M, weekly trauma and EGS conferences, monthly multidisciplinary trauma conferences, and participate in trauma performance improvement and patient safety committee meetings.
ACS Fellows will work closely with every member in the Acute Care Surgery Division. There will be regular meetings between the Program Director and the Fellow, and the Program Director will share informal feedback during these times including feedback from other division attendings.
Junior Faculty Role
The UI Heatlh Care program incorporates the fellow into a junior faculty role and provides graduated autonomy, allowing the development and fine tuning of surgical skills and decision making. The fellow will take overnight call 3-4 times per month with a backup attending surgeon always available.
