Researchers from the University of Iowa Department of Surgery and the Kenny Lab were recently featured in Cancer Research for their work advancing the understanding of uveal melanoma.
In this study, the team developed a novel zebrafish model that more closely reflects how this rare eye cancer develops. Using this approach, researchers identified a population of early-stage pigment cells that may play a key role in the formation of these tumors.
These findings offer important insight into how uveal melanoma begins and progresses and may help guide future strategies for more targeted treatments.
