Dr. Vikas Dudeja, professor and chair of the University of Iowa Department of Surgery, recently welcomed academic surgery leaders from across the country to Iowa City for the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) Executive Retreat.
As current president of the AAS, Dudeja hosted an evening at Walker Homestead, where attendees enjoyed farm tours, lawn games, local food, and an interactive murder mystery experience.
The event offered a unique opportunity for colleagues to connect outside the meeting room while experiencing Iowa hospitality and a little friendly competition.

By bringing the retreat to Iowa City, Dudeja highlighted both the university and the local community while fostering collaboration among leaders working to advance surgical education, research, and patient care.
