Why Iowa?
"The staff are committed to resident education. They put a lot of effort into one on one education with residents, which I appreciate. The camaraderie and friendship amongst the residents and staff is unique and makes the learning environment all the more enjoyable.
Iowa itself is easy living - Cost of living is very reasonable on a resident salary. There's plenty to do downtown in Iowa City, fantastic restaurants, and its and easy drive to many big midwest cities or other places on the weekends."

Erica Maduakolam, MD, (she/her/hers)
Why Iowa?
"Our institution provides the opportunity to gain comprehensive training in all surgical subspecialities. Our patients travel here from across the state and surrounding areas to seek the quality of care we provide.
I chose Iowa because I wanted my training to prepare me in becoming a competent surgeon with diverse training, all while creating a collaborative learning environment where I would gain hands-on experience from the very start.
It was imperative for me to belong to a program that finds new ways support its residents with innovation in surgical education."
