Our team provides advanced surgical care for patients with end-stage organ disease and complex liver and hepatobiliary conditions. As part of the UI Health Care Organ Transplantation Program, we perform kidney, pancreas, and liver transplantation and deliver comprehensive care throughout the transplant journey.

Research and Innovation
Faculty in the division lead and participate in basic science, translational, and clinical research aimed at advancing transplantation and improving patient outcomes. Through externally funded research and participation in multicenter clinical trials, our investigators help bring new discoveries and therapies to patients across Iowa and the Midwest.
Advancing Transplant Care
The division contributes to the broader University of Iowa transplant enterprise, supporting transplant programs across multiple specialties and helping expand access to advanced transplant care throughout the region. In addition to providing exceptional patient care, faculty members play a key role in training future transplant surgeons through education, mentorship, and hands-on clinical experience.
