Critical Care surgery training built for success
The Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Iowa Healthcare offers a one-year, ACGME-accredited program with a specialized focus on burn care. This fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity for an in-depth experience in the management of the entire spectrum of critical care surrounding burns, complex wounds in addition to complex surgical and cardiac conditions in a critical care setting.
The University of Iowa Healthcare has the only burn center in the state of Iowa, which is also verified by the American Burn Association. The center includes a recently renovated 21-bed critical and intermediate care inpatient unit plus the Burn Surgery Clinic, which has approximately 2,500 outpatient visits of both adults and pediatrics annually. All acute burn patients are evaluated within the Burn Treatment Center. Because the center cares for both adult and pediatric patients and manages a wide range of conditions, it provides valuable learning opportunities for medical students, residents and fellows.
